Carrie Underwood and her former NHL player husband, Mike Fisher debuted a trailer for their new four-part series on faith based media platform, I Am Second, Tuesday. In it, the couple opens up about the trials they faced when trying to have children.

Mike and Carrie: God & Country chronicles the emotional ups and downs Underwood and her husband faced after dealing with three miscarriages. During the trailer Fisher says, “you have all these mountaintops, but we hadn’t had a ton of valleys like this.”

The series will take us on Carrie and Mike’s spiritual journey that they embarked on while trying for a healthy pregnancy. “I just had an honest conversation with God. I was hurt, and I told him how I felt,” Underwood tearfully shares.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada, Carrie says that the main reason she and Mike choose to let the world in on their struggles with miscarriages was because the couple wanted to inspire viewers who may be going through the same thing. Underwood explains, “we wanted to do this to share some of our personal journey in hopes that viewers will be inspired by it, and maybe even take one more step in pursuing a relationship with God.”

During the teaser for the new show, Fisher tells us that he’s always wanted kids, while Underwood earnestly says, “I was never good with other people’s kids. Why would I be good with one of my own?”

However, when the couple was finally able to bring their first child, Isaiah, into the world, Carrie tells us she was immediately in love with her baby.

Additionally Carrie and Mike welcomed their second son, Jacob, into the family after his birth in 2019. After enduring three miscarriages and finally having one child, Underwood felt she was blessed just to have one healthy baby. However, after the birth of Jacob, the Country singer shared in an Instagram post, “Jacob Bryan Fisher entered the world in the wee hours of the morning on Monday... his mom, dad and big brother couldn’t be happier for God to trust them with taking care of this little miracle! Our hearts are full, our eyes are tired and our lives are forever changed. Life is good…”

Episode one of Mike and Carrie: God & Country comes to this Wednesday. Each new episode will air weekly through the month of June.
