Thomas Rhett Shares Two Christmas Songs

Listen to an original and a classic

November 21, 2019

Thomas Rhett is getting into the holiday spirit by releasing his first two Christmas songs. One is an original called “Christmas in the Country,” and the other is his take on the classic “The Christmas Song.”

On the easy-going “Christmas in the Country,” Rhett sings about experiencing the most wonderful time of the year far away from the hustle and bustle of the big city: “We got snowflakes falling on an old two lane, red bow wreathes on the window pane. Just sitting ‘round the fire with the ones who love me.”

A traditional strings arrangement kicks off Rhett’s version of “The Christmas Song,” before an acoustic guitar riff begins to make it more personal. Rhett said the holidays are his favorite time of year, and that his wife urged him to record some music for the season.

"We have so many Christmas traditions in our family that include a lot of festive music, but I’ve never recorded anything myself,” he said in a statement. “Lauren has wanted me to make some Christmas music for a long time, so this year felt like the right time to finally take a stab at writing something and to put my own twist on one of the all-time classics."

Rhett is hoping to decorate his mantle with his first GRAMMY award in time for next Christmas. The 29-year-old was nominated for Best Country Album for Center Point Road. Rhett’s 4th LP was released in May and went to #1 on the Billboard 200 on the strength of the singles “Look What God Gave Her” and “Remember You Young.”
