5 Things You Didn't Know About Brett Young

Brett Young is coming to Memphis to perform at The Bluff Oct. 25th! In case you didn't know, here are 5 little known facts about the country music star! 

1. He played college baseball: Young was a pitcher for the University of Mississippi. Coming out of high school, he was called by two MLB teams, Tampa Bay and Minnesota. However, he decided to play college basbeall to improve his skills and stock. Unfortunately after an elbow injury, he was forced to end his baseball career.

2. He started performing leading worship services: In High School, Young started singing in the late 1990s when he stepped in to replace an absent leader of the band during a Christian worship meeting. Eventually, he ended up leading the services all by himself!

3. He's 6'6": Standing at 6'6", his height definitely played into his athletic abilities. Probably doesn't hurt with the ladies either!

4. Gavin DeGraw and Jeremy Steele were influential to him: After his injury, Young says that he was inspired to return to music after listening to a Gavin DeGraw album, Chariot. After some conversations with singer-songwrtiter, Jeremy Steele, he made the decision to return to his roots and pursue music full-time. 

5. He makes music for all ages: Young purposefully makes music that families can listen to together! He wants fans of all ages to be able to enjoy his music. When he writes, he thinks of a mom with a young daughter. He wants to make music with messages they would both understand and enjoy.
