Ken Burns' "Country Music" is a MUST SEE

Every country music fan should see this film!

September 10, 2019

Seeing this film "Country Music" by Ken Burns was like taking a history lesson in the love, loss, joy and heartache of country music icons from Jimmie Rodgers and Hank Williams Sr. through the years of Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, and Willie Nelson to Dolly Parton, Marty Stuart, John Denver, Alabama, Hank Williams Jr and Garth Brooks, this was a ride through the evolution of country music.  More than eight years in the making, this film tells stories that keep you captivated for hours-- told by the artists and musicians that were influenced by legends and worked along side them and by the children of country music's most famous stars.  Country music writer Hazel Smith, who coined the phrase "Outlaw Country", was one of my favorite commentators, along with Marty Stuart, Vince Gill, Roseanne Cash, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristoffereson. I learned SO MUCH from watching this film and want to share it with every country music lover.  It will open your eyes to see how this music we love so much has evolved over the last half century.  Sit back and relax - this is Country Music.

This Film begins locally on WKNO (PBS) on Sunday September 15, 2019 and runs for 2 weeks.  You can also purchase the film at Target and wherever DVS are sold.
